Harvard buys Mailer’s sexcapades

Three years ago, Norman Mailer snubbed his alma mater, Harvard, when he sold his archives to the University of Texas for $2.5 million. UT may have missed out on the juiciest bundle of all, though.

This week Harvard purchased a sexy potpourri of books, papers, and letters from Mailer’s longtime mistress Carole Mallory (they didn’t release the price). Mallory told Page Six that they include “a 20-page sex scene from an unpublished memoir I wrote called ‘Making Love With Norman.’ It’s very steamy. Norman was a real man and he knew what he was doing.”

Harvard shouldn’t get too excited though. Last year’s “Bad Sex in Fiction” award went to Mailer for imagined sex scenes between Hitler’s parents: “Uncle was now as soft as a coil of excrement. She sucked on him nonetheless with an avidity that could come only from the Evil One.” If this is the final product, God only knows what is in his working drafts.
