Welcome the Pen of the Future

Eons and eons ago, students brought paper and binders to class and wrote on them with vessels full of ink called “pens.” Then, when they realized their handwritten notes were horrifyingly disorganized, students started bringing their laptops to class, triggering a scoliosis epidemic. Cue the newest technology: digital pens! Ladies and gentlemen, the brilliant inventors of our time have created a way to input your manual scribbles into your PC in seconds through a USB jack.
The most impressive digital pen, the Pulse, records both your writing and the audio you’re transcribing (it has a teeny microphone). The catch: You have to write on special Pulse paper, not in any old notebook. That’s not an issue with Iogear’s Mobile Digital Scribe or the Dane-Elec ZPen, both of which don’t record audio but work on any paper. All three are only compatible with Windows PCs (sorry, Macfans). Pretty cool - except for the price, ranging from around $85 for the ZPen to $150 for the Pulse (as much as 50 or more ballpoints).
