Utah Creates Real Life Ironman…Well, Sorta

Researchers at the University of Utah have built an exoskeleton robotic suit that gives ordinary people superhuman strength. The exoskeleton allows its user to walk and run comfortably while carrying 150 lbs. (our ‘roided-out readers just died a little inside). As reported in The Daily Utah Chronicle, the suit even senses a user’s muscle movement:
“It’s like a big power device,” [Steven Jacobsen, creator of the suit said.] “You put it on and it basically senses where you want to move and it moves there.”
Jacobsen foresees the suit being used to help transport materials and even people (like hospital patients). However, the U.S. Army will also check out another version of the exoskeleton, due out next year. The suit’s intent would be helping the military carry supplies, not fighting. In other news, I have created a real-life Wolverine suit, by taping plastic knives to my knuckles. The Army has not returned my phone calls…yet.
