Travel Companies Help Students Fly for Less

Two smaller travel companies are providing a little fiscal relief that — for many student travelers — can go a long way. As fares climb and airlines continue to think of ways to add fees, STA Travel and StudentUniverse still offer discounted flights to college students. The two companies negotiate with airlines to eliminate the extra fees tacked on to the price of the flight. Unlike most airlines, fares don’t fluctuate nor do they increase closer to departure. In fact, says head of marketing and research at StudentUniverse, “As students procrastinate, we get more competitive.” Affordable traveling and a reward for slacking off. Now all you need is a place to go.
