The Grass is Always Greener at the Other Commencement Ceremony

College students aren’t ever happy, are they? UCLA seniors are bemoaning the school’s speaker selection, James Franco — in fact, a UCLA student who’s known as a slacker. And across the country, UVA students have the opposite complaint: instead of U.S. Court of Appeals judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III, who was selected as the commencement speaker, they want funnyman Stephen Colbert.

“It’s our graduation after all,” [UVA senior Will Eden] said. “And we’ve gone here four years and it’s kind of our day to celebrate. We’ve paid tuition, which no doubt goes toward that [ceremony].”

I wonder whether in five years, when Eden could care less who his commencement speaker was, he’ll regret that that’s the quote that went down in history?
