Four members of the Texas Rho Chapter of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon frat at the University of Texas have been charged after strange tales of their pledge-hazing rituals surfaced. According to the affidavits, pledges for the Fall 2006 class were forced to binge drink, go on “cactus runs” (gathering cacti with their bare hands), struck by hot irons, shocked with cattle prods, and physically beaten, among other allegations. Three members were charged with hazing (punishable by six months in prison and $2,000 fine), and another was charged with failure to report hazing. (Source: The Daily Texan)
