It’s no secret that the men and women with “shady pasts” (i.e. DUI arrests, assault charges, and domestic violence to name a few) are rather ubiquitous in the sports world. That’s just the way it’s always been.

But in a stunning development, the New Jersey Nets’ three 2008 draft picks have been young men with exemplary character as WELL as athletic ability. Crazy, right? Nets president Rod Thorn praised the picks saying:

“You always look for ability but you have to have character. That’s what we like about all three.”

Looks like Brook Lopez (Stanford), Ryan Anderson (California), and Chris Douglas-Roberts (Memphis) have some large expectations to fill. Whatever you do, guys, stay away from those dogs.
