Shoulder Pads are Now Officially Cool(er)

Well, sort of. Those geniuses at the University of Florida have begun to test shoulder pads for football players that are designed to lower body temperature by blowing cool, dry air underneath the football pads. In the tests, athletes worked out in a 92 degree room for 15 minutes with and without these special pads. According to the study:

The largest difference was during recovery, when the cooling group posted an average core body temperature of 100.3 degrees Fahrenheit, vs. 101.7 degrees for the control group.

A whopping 1.4 degrees! Groundbreaking! No but seriously, if these guys invented Gatorade, I’d trust them with anything.
