Thinking about fighting the law? Don’t forget: It always wins. A Michigan State University student who threw a bottle at the cops during last April’s Cedar Fest riot-’til-dawn rager has been sentenced to 30 days in jail, according to the Chicago Tribune. The former freshman, Shane Patrick Rauss, was among nearly 4,000 people who attended Cedar Fest, and cops say Rauss was one of over 50 arrested for pelting police with bricks, bottles, and cans, along with other charges. Rauss is one of the first to be sentenced, and it seems he’s being set up as a cautionary tale–in addition to spending a month of his summer in the slammer, he’ll also spend a year on probation, shell out $2,000 in fines, and be barred from attending MSU or any other Michigan public university for one year. Note to next year’s Cedar Fest attendees: If you’re gonna throw something, make sure it doesn’t hit anything with a badge.
