If life really is one big party down at the University of Florida (and who knows a good party better than the Princeton Review?), party fouls seem like an inevitable side effect. But some out-of-control party pranks have landed one UF frat, Delta Tau Delta, in serious legal hot water, after a woman claimed two members tried to videotape her having sex without her permission.
According to the Herald Tribune, the woman was having consensual sex in 2006 with one Delta Tau Delta member when she discovered another member hiding in an adjoining bed, taping the whole thing at the behest of his buddy. Uh, gross, dudes. The two brothers were convicted on misdemeanor charges of voyeurism and sentenced to ten days in jail, 50 hours of community service, and a year on probation. The legal spotlight is now on the frat itself, which, the woman charges, failed to control its members. She’s seeking over $15,000 in damages in a civil lawsuit, and the incident is sure to sign a spotlight on Delta Tau Delta, which has been subject to several school sanctions over the last few years for other sketchy situations. Does UF have to send a babysitter down until the frat boys learn how to behave themselves? Can’t even trust ‘em with bunk beds anymore…
