The circle of life, it ain’t. As reported by The Miami Herald an American crocodile carcass was found floating in a canal near the University of Miami campus. Fishing chum was also found in the water, leading authorities to believe that the reptile was lured to the edge before having its head and tail chopped off. Aside from being totally gross, what’s sad is that it’s the gators that are dangerous, not their often mistaken-for fellow reptiles. There hasn’t been a single report of a crocodile attack on a human in Florida.

As for the attackers, killing an endangered species in Florida is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. But it’s not the police the croc-killers should be worried about — it’s their vengeful sons. Dude, did you see The Lion King?
