Get ready to feel all warm and mushy inside. The Colorado Federation of College Republicans has ceased fundraising for the GOP to focus on helping the victims of Hurricane Gustav. The Federation, which encompasses all of the state’s College Republican chapters, is asking donors to send their contributions to the National Disaster Relief Fund. The GOP group has even removed the “Donate” link from their website. Instead, the page directs users to the American Red Cross Foundation. I can see tomorrow’s headline now: Colorado College Republicans: Up for Sainthood. I kid.
The student-run organization seems truly dedicated to helping out the community, both with monetary relief as well as volunteer support. Earlier this year the Granite State’s College Republicans forged an alliance with the Mississippi Republican Party. Many of the Mississippi GOP’s group members are resident of the Gulf states, the region most affected by Gustav. Can you feel the love?
