Brothers Under Christ Win Right to Religious Recruiting at UF

In some ways, Beta Upsilon Chi is just like any other University of Florida fraternity–boys rush, the brothers pick their favorites, and the select few who meet their social standards are invited to join. But because Beta Upsilon Chi (a.k.a. Brothers Under Christ) is more interested in recruiting Christians than those who rule the beer bong, the University of Florida refused to recognize the frat, claiming that they were in violation of UF rules against religious discrimination. Now, a federal appeals court has agreed that Beta Upsilon Chi belongs on the UF campus and issued an injunction on Wednesday requiring them to recognize the Brothers.
Of course, the judge didn’t answer my two burning questions about this case: a) How is this different than frats who choose members based on critical issues like the brand of cargo shorts they wear?, and b) What non-Christian dreams of being a Brother Under Christ (and do the Jews for Jesus count)? Even religion-based clubs have to accept members of other faiths to keep receiving university funds and use campus facilities, but until the inevitable legal follow-up, the boys of Beta Upsilon Chi are free post their annoying fliers all over campus, just like everyone else. I guess it helps to have Jesus as your pledgemaster.

A. I’m sure that pointing out the difference between “cargo shorts’ and a Christian to a liberal media groupie would be much too hard for you to grasp, plus the added factor that it would be much too “annoying” and just plain boring. So, I’m not even going to try.
As to the “B” portion of your article, this is another point that may be a little hard for you to grasp, but this one I will try to explain…in words that I hope even you will be able to understand.
There maybe no non-Christian that “dreams of being a Brother Under Christ“, but then again the possibility exists that there may be a few or maybe just one. In any case , the BYX is there. Of course, one can’t rule out the non-Christian (Satan worshipper?) that may just want to join to spread dissention or just to cause a disruption. Or just to bring down the Brothers Under Christ.
There are probably several other reasons that might make one want to join, but you are quite correct in stating that it always “…helps to have Jesus…“ in anything you do.
