Hi! I’m Peter Bonamici, a junior English major at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. I’m spending the summer at home with my parents, brother and miniature poodle, Holly, in the suburbs of Chicago. But I’m not home much—I spend most of my time working at a law firm downtown and in a few rock climbing gyms around the city. As an English major I certainly do my fair share of reading during the school year, but I enjoy doing some casual reading over breaks, especially short stories for the train rides to and from work. I highly recommend the stories of Richard Yates, Truman Capote and William Styron (of Sophie’s Choice fame). I would also suggest Brittani Sonnenberg’s “Taiping”. All of these are great commuter books or just something to read if you have an empty hour. Well, that’s all for now. I have a friend coming in from Iowa to pick up her student VISA—she is studying abroad in Chile this fall. I should probably pick up a few things around here before she arrives tomorrow.

p.s. Check out the picture of her university. Jealous? Me too.
